I have been an approved LPC resident supervisor by the Virginia Board of Counseling since 2018 and have provided supervision in other capacities in the mental health field for over a decade. I work from a holistic, trauma informed, strength-based model, primarily utilizing DBT, REBT, and brainspotting. I am also a yoga teacher and Reiki Master, and am skilled in the incorporation of somatic and spiritual approaches into therapy. While these are my approaches, I am passionate about helping you identify and build your own professional identity.
In supervision, I focus on providing you with support, safety, autonomy, and opportunities for growth. I am a supervisor who will wholeheartedly cheer you on and empathically challenge you, both personally and professionally. Our jobs as therapists are tough, and I will encourage you to prioritize personal wellness and to receive your own therapy. I believe we cannot show up for our clients if we don’t first show up for ourselves, therefore, I regularly incorporate wellness into the supervision process.
In supervision, we will laugh, we will celebrate successes, we will walk through the trenches together, we will make tough decisions, we will learn from each other, and we may even shed a tear or two. My goal as a supervisor is for you to walk away from the supervision process with confidence in yourself as a therapist, a strong clinical skill set, a clear professional identity, passion for your own wellness, and fulfillment in serving your clients.
My approach is to enthusiastically support and empathically challenge you, ensuring that you gain confidence, skill, and fulfillment in your role as a therapist.
I am dedicated to helping you craft and strengthen your own professional identity, tailoring our sessions to align with your unique strengths and career aspirations.
I utilize a blend of techniques like DBT, REBT, and brainspotting, enriched with yoga and Reiki, to provide a comprehensive and adaptable supervision experience.
“Erin is an amazing supervisor. She takes time to learn the strengths and challenge areas for each person she supervises and invests genuine interest in helping a person increase and fine tune their clinical skills. Erin has a judgment free approach and is so easy to talk to about both clinical and personal issues as they arise. I can honestly say I am a well-rounded LPC today because I was fortunate enough to have Erin supervise me during both internship and residency.”
“Supervision with Erin has been amazing! I have learned so much as it relates to writing clinically and having a better understanding of many different mental health diagnoses. I also appreciate Erin being a genuine and kind person. I have always felt that I can ask any question to receive clarity. Erin supports you in your work and personal life because she genuinely wants the best for you. The best supervisor ever!”
